About This Instrument

The pan flute — called the siku or antara in the Andes — is one of the world's oldest instruments, its tuned bamboo tubes encoding the harmonic relationships that Pythagorean tradition would later formalize in mathematics. This 13-tube version offers a range of just over an octave, played by tilting the instrument and blowing across the open tops of each tube. The natural bamboo produces a breathy, organic tone with a complex overtone structure. Ideal for meditation, world music study, and sacred sound work.
